New South Wales reaches allocation for 2024-25
New South Wales (NSW) reached its allocation for the Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) visa this week and will not be issuing any further invitations for the Subclass 190 visa until a new allocation is provided by the Australian Federal Government for the 2025-26 program year.
In the meantime, NSW continued issuing invitations for the Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491) visa in Pathway 2 this week, and has likely now also reached its allocation for the Subclass 491 visa.
How many places was NSW allocated for the Subclass 190 visa and Subclass 491 visa in 2024-25?
In the 2024-25 Migration Program, NSW was allocated 3,000 places for the Subclass 190 visa and 2,000 places for the Subclass 491 visa. As of 30 April 2025, NSW had nominated 1,919 skilled candidates for the Subclass 190 visa and 1,137 skilled candidates for the Subclass 491 visa.
What skilled occupations is NSW in need of?
As NSW’s Skilled Migration Program 2024-25 draws to a close with the financial year, we anticipate that NSW’s Skilled Migration Program for 2025-26 will be developed to support government priorities under the NSW Trade & Investment Strategy.
This means that there will be a potential focus on inviting skilled migrants in the following occupation unit groups to apply for NSW nomination for a Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) visa or Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491) visa, amongst others:
